For years I had heard about nature photographers going to southern
Arizona to photograph hummingbirds in Madera Canyon and I had also
heard that the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum was a great place to
shoot. Not being fond of heat, Arizona wasn’t high on my
wish-list of places to go. Despite the horrid climate, I decided
to give it a try. Yes, even in April it gets hot, but I found the
hummingbirds to be great subjects as well as a plethora of other
birds and a few mammals. With a few minor exceptions, the wildlife
subjects that I photographed in Arizona I had never even seen before.
Yes I survived the heat and I may even return for more great photography,
but never in the summer.
