Black Oystercatcher
Coastal Katmai Area, Alaska

On an island off the Katmai coast we found oystercatchers nesting on the beach. They didn't seem to mind my presence as I photographed them at relatively close range. I sat quietly on a log and used a 1.4x extender on my 500mm lens.
